    The old ssds would take up the entire drive. It didnt make sence making it smaller since it needs to mount to a bay meant for a larger drive. Also making a kew enclusure would be expensive.

    • @NiceEyeballs

      But can't we just use two screws in the front to mount it. Why need 4? I mean two screws with the thinnest washers could do it.

      @aaravrahtole8929 to create the tooling to make a new case for it is expensive. It makes no financial sence to change the case when everything it will end up going into uses that size drive.

    • @NiceEyeballs
      @NiceEyeballs 8 місяців тому

      @@askjeevescosby2928 the costs saved by the use of less material because we'll be needing half of that is still more than new tooling? I'm pretty sure these metal casing are made of metal made by cutting the rest of the metal from a block of metal. But I guess you were right since if what I'm thinking was possible than companies would have already done it.

    • @askjeevescosby2928
      @askjeevescosby2928 8 місяців тому

      @aaravrahtole8929 the cases are made out of steel which is extremely cheap. They would save maybe a few dollars for every 100000 drives. While shutting down a production line and retooling it nit to mention designing the new case would cost millions. Just not worth it.

    Why would there be something else? Have you seen an m.2 drive... They're tiny-the size of a stick of gum. The only reason they've put THIS in this big a container is so that it will physically screw into the place where a 2.5" drive belongs. Also... to fit that SATA connector on it

    @markjones2349 Рік тому

    Those numbers mean absolutely nothing. If you compare a SATA SSD that reads 550 MB per second to an NVMe that reads 3000 MB per second, the difference is very small. So I'm pretty confident saying that the speed that this raid card would make is very minimal. Unless you're trying to read very big files like a video editing or whatever. But for most people's uses this would be a huge waste of money because the files are never large enough to ever reach the maximum speed.
